Healthy & Fit Snack: Dole Fruit Squish’ems

photo-58

This is part of a sponsored campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Dole Packaged Foods, LLC. However, all opinions expressed are my own. Summer has invaded Jacksonville early with reckless abandon.  I feel like I’m slogging through these 92 degree runs and melting indefinitely every time I unluckily find myself outside. As such, the days leave me drained of energy which can make it difficult to stay on track with healthy choices. Who wants to rack their brain to create a healthy meal or snack after a long day of work, exercising, and/or taking care of your kids? That’s why … Continue reading

Iron Man 3 Review & Another Triathlon

Iron Man 3

Thank you so much to everyone that sent me congrats after finishing my first triathlon. I love this community immensely and you all keep me motivated and inspired to continue pushing myself to be better and stronger. Big sloppy virtual kisses for all of you! On Monday, I had the opportunity to attend an advanced media screening of Iron Man 3. Ever since I saw Robert Downey Jr. in the first Iron Man, I’ve been smitten with the series of action films because he brings such humor and intelligence to the role. Plus, he’s not hard on the eyes. Going … Continue reading

Our Balancing Act As A Young Couple #AngelSoft

385521_10150331315653239_31519814_n

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wished there was more time in a day.  Take yesterday for example, I worked a 12 hour shift at work and arrived home around 8:30. After showering, making sure Charlie ate (he’s been finicky lately), cleaning up, doing laundry, and eating I finally snuggled into my cozy abandoned sheets at 2 a.m; Zombie like and frazzled beyond belief. Today I’m working again and will be driving 5 hours to Miami for Hispanicize so frankly I will probably need more than a  few cafecitos to keep me from falling over. But it’s ok, … Continue reading

Cast Iron Skillet Steak Recipe with Walmart USDA Choice Ribeye Steak

1steak

Have I ever told you how much Ryan loves steak? He’d probably have one every day if he could. When I told him we were going to test out Walmart’s USDA choice steaks, he about fainted right in front of me. Since I was collecting future brownie points here, I decided that for this challenge, I would take it a step further by cooking with the Cast Iron Skillet method to get some of that same smoky and caramelized exterior you get in restaurants. The result was ridiculously delicious and the Cast Iron method cooked the steaks in record time! … Continue reading

Walgreens Heart Health Month & Why You’re Not Too Young To Care

IMG_4550

I’m back! I just spent the weekend in Orlando for the Disney Princess Half Marathon! Isn’t this pink heart bling stunning?! The weather wasn’t ideal (it was unusually hot and humid) but that didn’t stop thousands of determined women from crossing the finish line and taking hundreds of steps toward heart health through running. If you didn’t know already, February is heart health month and Walgreens is doing an amazing job at raising awareness with their program #HappyHealthy. This is a subject that is particularly personal for me because two years ago at the age of 24, I went through months of testing, ER visits, … Continue reading

FitBit Zip Review

406167_452939428093854_1073437754_n

I’ve been toting around a new buddy that’s literally been hanging out close to my heart for 2 weeks now. The Fitbit zip is an uber portable activity tracker that collects your fitness data seemingly by magic and sends it to your dashboard wirelessly and automatically. It uses a compact accelerometer to track steps taken, calories, and total distance. You can set daily, weekly, and monthly goals while challenging yourself and even your friends on their online portal. Best Buy sent me the black version which blended really well into my business attire at work. But I think it would … Continue reading

I cannot believe we are only 2 weeks away from Christmas! There’s so much going on during this time of year especially with family visiting and holiday parties in addition to what we all handle normally in our day to day lives.
