Marathon Training
I will be running my very first full marathon in February 2013! Follow my training ups and downs here
Who did they think they were messing with?!? Marathoners, Boston Marathoners no less, are some of the strongest people in the world. Not only are they physically fit and healthy, but their mental fortitude carried them through years of training, setbacks, and doubts to qualify for this prestigious race. You are no match for them. Whoever did this, you did NOT WIN.This tragedy will not cause runners to cower today or in the future. We are united. We are a Force. And your evil, insecurity, disregard for human life, will never triumph over the collective power of our positive running … Continue reading →
I’ve finally realized that I’m putting way too much pressure on myself while training for this marathon and it’s been causing a lot of anxiety and stress. I’ve been feeling so guilty and terrible about the whole thing and it’s not supposed to be this way. It’s not healthy. This is not what I want my experience to be so I decided Sunday after my Garmin died during a run that I would just go with the flow. I’ll try to stick to the schedule as much as I can but if life/work/trips continue to get in the way then I’ll … Continue reading →
Happy Friday!! I’m still glowing and sickeningly happy today. Man does it ever feel good when you go out and complete something that was initially daunting. Yesterday I stuck it out and did my first ever long run on a weekday as part of Marathon training! Phew! Running far during the week is really difficult for me since I still have a full time job and usually don’t get home until 6pm. Factor in having to take Charlie out, make dinner, eat dinner, and blog….well there isn’t much time left over to exercise, shower, and go to sleep early. I … Continue reading →
It’s officially been a week since I was in Bethlehem, PA enjoying the fall foliage, cool weather, and surreal meet ups with some of Running’s greats.Only now do I feel like I can talk about the incredible adventure we all took part in. It never sunk in fully and I constantly felt like it was all a crazy dream I would wake up from; drenched in sweat and with a goofy smile on my face slowly dissipating as I realized that I was still in fact in my bedroom. I began the day early by waking up at 4:30 a.m. … Continue reading →
I had a hectic day yesterday. The hour long lunch trial so that I can go home and let Charlie out is over (back to 30 min) so I basically had to create time out of thin air. Fun. At work, I heated up a Healthy choice meal and tried to scarf down as much as I could during pauses in phone calls and while reading medical records. Sadly, the roasted beef merlot entree was bland and unappetizing so I only managed to finish half of it. Those things are just about 220 calories which left me with a whole … Continue reading →
Today is the official beginning of what I’m sure will be a whirlwind journey towards becoming a full marathoner. I still can’t quite grasp that my first half marathon was in 2011. I still can’t believe I’ve done 7 of them so far. It hasn’t exactly sunk in that I’m going to be running 26.2 miles in February, only 4 months from now, and the same month I ran my first half marathon in. The last long distance race I did this year was the famed Gate River Run 15k. And the training plan since then has not existed. I … Continue reading →
Here we go again. I’m about to do something crazy. I’ll briefly mention that my foray into the unknown world of Ignite presentations went surprisingly well at Fitbloggin. It could have been the many well wishers online, the support of my blog buddies Lena, Debra, or Alyse and Jaime sitting in the front row, or the fact that I was scheduled to speak during the second half of the program. OR…. maybe it was that delicious glass of wine I gulped down to calm my nerves and that fact that Ryan Gosling’s hey girl for bloggers was on every other … Continue reading →
Yesterday was a typically busy Monday at work. I always have lots of e-mail to respond to from over the weekend on top of all my other responsibilities. I sometimes wonder how my hands don’t fall off from all the typing and I’m seriously counting on having to replace my eyeballs by the time I’m 40. Does anyone else get bleary eyed from staring at a hyper lit screen all day and end up looking like this? Sorry Demi. Didn’t mean to put you out there like that. You just happen to provide the perfect example of what I feel … Continue reading →
