Thanks to Amway, Nutrilite, and Latina Bloggers Connect I had the opportunity to go to a very special blogger health event called Pack More Health in New York City. Here we learned that cooking healthy means using lots of colors, preparing fish can be an exercise in patience but TOTALLY worth the end result (ok this is something I personally learned), that supplements can be a convenient part of our daily lives, and that leading a healthy lifestyle pays off in so many ways.
I have so many things to talk about and a lot of adventures to recount so get ready for a multi-post series. You’ll learn how to truss a chicken, cook a Rick Bayless recipe that’ll knock your socks off, how to fit in 2 servings of veggies and fruits in 5 minutes, and how to be adventurous (maybe just maybe.) But first, let’s get to the really good stuff. The food.
I LOVE food and am so glad I was in the company of bloggers that felt the same way. It truly is O.K. to admit this to yourself (ahem ladies) and remember that loving food doesn’t have to be your downfall. In fact, having a passion for what goes into your body will empower you to live a healthy lifestyle. Nutrilite reinforced this throughout the trip beautifully with no preaching but by instead letting the food speak for itself.
We also had a dream team of experts with us for two days like top chefs (including Master Chef Rick Bayless!!)
and health professionals Dr. Kip Johnson (Preventive Health Physician), Exercise Physiologist Sean Foy, and Dr. Micheline Vargas (a research scientist that also happens to be a runner!). We were lucky to be able to meet with the health experts one on one that evening during a casual mixer in the Nutrilite suite with views over looking the city. Every event was meant to be a fun learning experience. I felt so comfortable diving in and getting to know everyone including brand manager Tom Sturgeon, especially after he joined in the blogger shenanigans
Let me explain. We were watching a chocolate demonstration on how to make mousse and it looked beyond spectacular. I think all the bloggers were salivating at this point including me who was being seduced by the fragrant peaks during the mixing. Somehow we had the bolas bright idea to ask the chef for a sample and rapidly plunged the nearest available wooden spoons into the silver mixing bowl before he knew what hit him. Jeannette from Hispana Global and I made sure we had someone capture the moment for us just as quickly.
And before we knew it, the best thing ever happened:
There goes the spoon
and the landing! Tom Sturgeon is officially the coolest brand manager in history. He joined us in sampling the mousse straight out of the mixing bowl
You can tell we were all surprised and really got a kick out of it. It’s really great when companies have such personable people working for them because I feel I can trust them more. Nutrilite employees never regurgitated information, never seemed robotic, and were not afraid of pulling up their sleeves with us. I’m happy to say that we met some of Nutrilite’s brightest and friendliest team members. They had no qualms about having a good time and really getting to know us bloggers personally. I had a blast and picked up some useful knowledge that I can’t wait to share.
So are you ready for the festivities?
Let’s begin this culinary adventure into nutrition with Nutrilite and my fellow blogger friends
Sarah James from Whoorl, Ali from Ali Martell, Angela from Dutch Blitz, and Jeannette from Hispana Global.
