Dedicated to all bloggers, travelers, editors, business men & women, moms with hyper kids, and anyone that knows the value of a reliable internet connection on the go. This is my Netzero hotspot review and story of redemption from the black whole of lost connectivity.Dun dun dun
I recently visited New York City as part of a wicked fun blogging trip (recap coming soon) and brought along my new Netzero hotspot thinking I’d never really need it. Yes I’m one of those people that over pack for every trip. Yes I know I’m a silly dingbat. And yes I still manage to forget 1 thing every single time despite my efforts to cram my entire bedroom into my suitcase, make it under 50 pounds, and zip it without injuring myself. Even though I’ve been on a plane 6 times this year I still make sure to bring extra clothing, technology, and accessories for most every possible situation. So I packed the hotspot even though I was staying at hotels with wifi access. Like I said, juuuuuust in case
Just a few days prior, I single-handedly set it up like a jedi computer master. I thought I’d need help but it was probably the easiest set-up I’ve come across. Thus I felt like the most interesting powerful woman in the world.
Netzero created a hotspot that’s a pro at conserving both your data/money and energy. It allows you to choose between light or warp speed to save data so that you can make sure to stay within your plan, thus no extra charges. And the other cool thing it does is that it will shut itself off when not in use in order to save your battery life! Genius.
Bonus: It lights up so that you can continue to surf and watch Gossip Girl in the dark! Ah just kidding, I don’t think that’s the purpose of this feature but I do like the backlit screen. But since we’re talking about it now, I’m almost caught up with the show and am currently on season 5 where Blair is a pregnant princess. Don’t tell me what happens! I really want to know but want to continue seeing the story unfold with all the juicy details. You can guess what I’ll be doing during the holiday break right?
Moving on….ahem….this is the hotel I stayed at for a couple of nights:
Pretty, modern, and that see through shower is uber sexy no? Despite the comforts, the wifi here was spottier than my childhood Dalmation. I couldn’t believe how terrible the reception was here!! and I had just stayed in Harlem where I was easily able to connect. What gives? My phone was constantly dropping calls and my laptop wouldn’t connect to their server. When my taxi attempted to drop me off here he had to circle around the block for 30 minutes because he couldn’t get a signal for his Square payment device. Apparently I was staying in a black hole and everyone forgot to tell me.
I have never been so happy in my life to have over packed. I whipped out the Netzero hotspot like a ninja and prayed it would connect where no other network could. I had come here to work and hell I needed to be able to connect! I turned it on by holding the button down for 3 seconds and typed in my password. Then I waited…..
60 seconds later the green bar reached the end of its timeline and I was back in business!! Dear sweet Jesus I totally kissed a device for the first time in my life. I’m not sure why AT&T and their hotel internet provider were so unreliable but my NetZero Hotspot had no issues. What a marvel. This hotspot will save your butt if you ever find yourself in a black hole on earth. If you’re in space, you’re on your own buddy.
True and Amazing Deets
-Provides portable internet without the worry of public Wi-Fi
-Works with up to 8 internet enabled devices.( I connected my ipad, phone, and laptop while in NYC and found no sluggishness)
-It’s compact and durable. It fit in my smallest purse easily.
-Battery life lasts up to 6 hours and will conserve itself when not in use.
- They have a variety of data plans that are very reasonable. In fact the most expensive one is only $49.95 for 4GB of data. I think the 2GB plan that costs $34.95 is a pretty good option for me especially when considering that wifi when traveling can cost $9.95 A DAY! I’ve had to purchase it before when I was in a lurch and it hurt to pay so much for the privelege of 24 hours of access.
- You have a chance to win you’re very own with 3 months of free internet service!!! YAY!
Boring but Necessary Rules
The winner must live in the U.S. and use rafflecopter below to enter. I will attempt to contact the winner through e-mail or their social networks as soon as the contest ends. If I do not hear back from the winner in 24 hours, a new winner will be chosen from the entries received.
Contest will End Christmas Eve December 24
Good luck!!
What I learned: Over packing is rarely a good thing but it worked out BIG TIME during this trip
And I love reviewing practical devices. Netzero Hotspot not only works but actually offers an advantage over existing networks. They are an incredibly reliable service that will not let you down despite the affordable price.
***If you’re searching for a last minute gift for a blogger or for yourself, this would be perfect! Plus they currently have 50% off their devices plus one month of free internet service as a holiday special.***

I learned that it’s free up to 200MB of data! I want one of these sooooo bad and would absolutely be thrilled if I won!!!
Interesting, I’ve never tried one of these! It looks they have coverage in my area, but maybe not if I tried to use it in the Colorado mountains. But it would be great for traveling outside the state!

The first thing I learned is that Netzero survived the original free internet dialup days!!!!
I also learned that they still provide dialup, but also provide 4G and DSL.

I love that you can change the speed of service. I hate traveling without wifi. It totally saved my NYC trip over Labor Day.
